The Foursquare was popular for its affordability and modern sensibilities. This variation is a typical Midwestern plan, but with a few unusual details. A stairway in in the hall between the back porch and dining room provides access to the second floor and wastes a fair amount of space. At least access to the basement is convenient to the kitchen.
