Aside from the pleasing curb appeal inherent in this design, it also has several nooks and crannies that make homes of this period so interesting. There is easy access to the backporch from the kitchen so ice could be easily received and stored and easy access to the stairs so the homemaker could easily tend to her household tasks without unnecessary walking.
