The American Foursquare is essentially a cube that has been quartered on each level. This defining characteristic is easily visible in this plan, which also has a number of nice features that allow it to live up to its name as a farm house. A full basement isn't shown, but is described with its boiler and coal rooms, as well as a root room for storing produce during the winter. On the main floor a wash room allows clean up before entering the dining room ... certainly a boon to the housewife who didn't want to share her kitchen with a bunch of men fresh from the fields.
