The Crofton reflects the desire of home buyers for the traditional Colonial Revival, which was by far and away the most popular style during the 1920s. A side-gabled asymmetrically balanced façade updates the usual formal symmetry. The plan is taken from the Foursquare playbook, the only real differences being the roof and lack of front porch. Simple and cost-effective, this plan represents a pragmatic, but aesthetic approach to building a home in 1928.
