Small houses with less than 1000 sf were built by the thousand across the US during the 1920s to accommodate the needs of middle-class homeowners. The Ashland is a typical modern cottage style with two bedrooms and one bath but also has some of the amenities like the breakfast nook and fireplace that homeowners treasured. This plan still has the cross ventilation and light common to the typical bungalow but a more modern aesthetic.
