According to Montgomery Ward, the Kelsey was "Cheerful—roomy and comfortable...not only imposing and attractive but also ... truly charming and well planned..." The forward gable is enhanced by knee braces and wide barge boards and the porch has clustered columns resting on river rock piers. It is one of Montgomery Wards' handsomer homes in the 1930 catalog.
