The Maywood

1930 Montgomery Ward

The Maywood is a "modern adaptation of the Quaint English Cottage Style." The steeply pitched, forward gabled entry and wall dormer with the hipped roof are interesting elements. From the side it appears to be Colonial Revival (reinforced by the window style), so it would be equally descriptive to call it an eclectic style.

The floor plan is circular on the main floor which would facilitate housekeeping as well as the flow from room to room. The stairway appears narrow and there is an interesting dogleg hall to the linen closet and bath that makes you wonder why the bathroom was arranged the way it was.

Rooms are generally reasonably sized and the total square footage is about 1500 so the Maywood is somewhat larger than average.
