The Columbine
1923 Sears Roebuck Modern Homes
Despite a relatively narrow facade, the Columbine has three bedrooms on the main floor with space upstairs to expand as finances permit. This home probably appealed to young homeowners with a growing family. Traditional Colonial Revival design elements make this a transitional style from the bungalow to a more modern plan. You can see the seeds of the change being sown in this plan, which reflect some of the beginnings of what would become the minimal traditional of the 1930s to 1950s.
