The Collingwood

1936 Sears Roebuck Modern Homes

Craftsman-style bungalows, so popular during the 'Teens, had almost completely vanished from the catalog books by the 1930s. They were replaced by more modern styles with cleaner lines and less ornamentation. The Collingwood was a popular example of the streamlined exterior with enough traditional flavor to look updated and new but still retain the open floor plan that makes the typical bungalow so comfortable.
