Of the many home styles that evolved during the late 1920s and early 30s, few appealed to homebuyers more than what was called the "modern English" style. Designers at Sears, always targeting the most popular styles as kit home candidates, knew a winner when they saw it. The Wilmore was introduced in the 1930 catalog as "The Jewel" but renamed by 1934. The Jewel/Wilmore was one of the most popular Sears kit homes sold during the 1930s.
