Plan No. R-823

c. 1918 Representative California Homes by E. W. Stillwell

If you wander through neighborhoods in LA like old Hollywood and Pasadena, you won't fail to notice the many Craftsman-style bungalows that hint at what they must have looked like a hundred years ago. Big porches, shingle siding, knee brackets, and broad sheltering roofs lined the streets. This plan is typical. You could buy milled barge boards and brackets, but often craftsmen would add the elaborated ends as their signature. This is a typical square footprint, but the texture and detail elevate it from ho-hum to utterly charming. It has the open floor plan and virtually no wasted space.
