Design No. 618

from the Telegram Plan Book — Portland, Oregon

Drive through some of the 1920s neighborhoods on Portland's East Side and you're likely to spot a few modest English Revival style homes with the facing gable and catslide roof over the porch. This plan would have easily accommodated all but the largest families when it was built. Two bedrooms upstairs would have handled the kids ... notice the sink in the hall for washing up. Downstairs, a bedroom and bath were a practical solution. There's an eat-in nook in the kitchen, a formal dining room, and large living room. All the mechanicals and a laundry in the basement made this a wonderful middle-class house in 1924.
