The Craftsman-style Avondale was a bungalow of rare and generous proportions and finishes. The bedrooms for example are much larger than those usually seen during the 1920s. The front porch is oversized and opens into a living room/dining area that must have seemed palatial by middle-class standards. Combined with the built-ins and beamed ceilings, the 1400 sq. ft. space must have been compelling to many buyers.
