The Vashon

Homes from Forest to You, 1924 by Stetson & Post Lumber, Seattle

The majority of the houses shown in the Stetson & Post catalog were small, and often tiny. The Vashon was intended to be an inexpensive, affordable alternative to renting. Advertising often touted the benefits of buying a home instead of paying rent and then paying it off rather quickly. Interest rates were often low and the incentive was to own as quickly as possible. The Vashon was perfect as a starter home.
