The Winona

1936 Sears Roebuck Modern Homes

One of the most enduringly popular kit homes offered by Sears was the Winona, which was originally sold in 1913. It remained in the catalog until Sears shut down its home sales division in 1940. A small cottage with about 1000 sq. ft., it was available in two different plans that remained essentially the same with slight modifications over the decades. By 1936, the Craftsman details had been streamlined and updated to appeal to more modern sensibilities.
